Our research approach
At the core of our all our work is a commitment to be non-partisan, policy agnostic and outcome agnostic.. We measure our success by Civil Society's agency, not predetermined outcomes. This core commitment means our work is non-partisan, policy-agnostic, and outcome-agnostic, aiming not to prescribe solutions but to equip every Civil Society Organization (CSO) with the context, tools, and networks it needs to:
Apply its own values and expertise to AI and its impacts.
Identify or generate solutions that support the community it serves.
Find like-minded allies (in Civil Society & beyond) whose collaboration can multiply their effectiveness.
We are therefore committed not only in conduction rigorous scholarship and publish our findings in ways that are immediately usable by practitioners at all levels within CSOs.
That also means our research program is intentionally exploratory. We're discovering what matters most as we listen systematically to both the broader ecosystem and our own community. Our team brings diverse disciplinary and professional backgrounds, and our work reflects methodological diversity grounded in epistemic humility and respect for the expertise that exists at the edges of networks.
Current & Forthcoming Publications
Our first three publications form a deliberate arc through time—examining the past for patterns and exploring plausible futures for preparation before mapping the present for baselines.
There is much else to understand, and share—you can see more on our Listen pillar of work below—but we hope these first three, temporally-grounded research packages will help build a shared understanding about where we've been, where we are, and where we might be headed, and to bolster Civil Society leaders’ confidence as they step up.
